How do Indiana and Michigan rank for safety?

Map showing the Michigan-Indiana border

A new list of the safest states to live says Indiana and Michigan have some close similarities, and some vast differences.

June is National Safety Month, and with the recent tragedies in the news from weather and wildfires to mass shootings, personal finance website WalletHub has examined all 50 states across dozens of categories, and ranked Indiana 12th, and Michigan 29th.

Both states were in the Top Ten for workplace safety, with most of Indiana’s other scores in the middle of the pack, and most of Michigan’s in the bottom half…including a ranking of 47th for personal and residential safety.

Minnesota was the safest state to live, Mississippi the least.
