Ford is recalling 1 point 3 million vehicles for suspension and transmission problems.
Those problems include rear suspension and transmission control software issues. The largest part of that recall covers more than 1 point 2 million Ford Explorer SUVs that were sold between 2011 and 2017. The rear suspension toe link can reportedly break under increased movement and can limit steering control.
In one instance, a customer reported running into a curb but Ford says they have not been informed of any injuries related to the issues.
Ford also is recalling 123,000 2013 F-150 pickups for a second time to stop transmissions from unintentionally downshifting into first gear. The recall covers pickups with 5-liter and 6.2-liter gas engines. A previous software update didn’t work, and the new update is expected to fix the issues.
