Employees were evacuated from the Cass County Courthouse on Friday, June 21, because of a bomb threat.

Around 8:45 a.m., Cass County Central Dispatch received two 911 calls indicating that a
bomb had been placed in the courthouse and would go off when the timer
expired.

Workers were ordered out of that building and the historic County Courthouse building was evacuated, as well.

The buildings were search by sheriff’s deputies, a Berrien County K-9 and security personnel.

No explosives or suspicious packages were found.

By 12:30 p.m., workers were allowed back into both buildings.

By late Friday afternoon, the sheriff’s department stated they were close to identifying a suspect.

Anybody with information is asked to contact the Cass County TIP line 800-462-9328, Cass County Central Dispatch 269-445-1560 or Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-7867.
