SBPD: Tuesday night robberies not believed to be related

The South Bend Police Department is investigating two robberies that occurred on the city’s southeast side.

The robberies happened on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Around 10:40 pm, officers responded to the 500 block of S. Michigan on reports of a robbery. It was learned two black males wearing masks entered the store. A third person, a white male, stayed at the door. The One of the masked males pointed a gun and demanded cash. After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, the three males then ran from the store.

Around 11:15 pm, officers responded to the 1800 block of W. Prairie on a report of a robbery. It was learned the victim walked outside of the store when a male from inside the store followed him out and then pointed a gun at him. The suspect took cash and then ran away. The suspect is described as a black male, possibly in his late teens to early 20s with black hair in twists and last seen wearing a black hoodie.

Through the preliminary investigation, these robberies are not believed to be related. They both remain under investigation by the South Bend Police Investigative Bureau.
