UPDATE: Around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sep. 21, Kevin Weber, 50 of Mishawaka, was released from Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Weber was transported by the Indiana State Police to the Marshall County Jail for an active warrant for Level 2 Felony Dealing Methamphetamine.

At the conclusion of the investigation all information will be turned over to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office for review of charges in St. Joseph County.

ORIGINAL STORY: Indiana State Troopers and officers with the Mishawaka Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a gold 1997 Honda Civic being driven by a 50 year old Mishawaka man near Battell and Division on Thursday, Sep. 19. Troopers had knowledge that the man had an active Level 2 Felony warrant out of Marshall County for Dealing Methamphetamine.

When troopers in fully marked Indiana State Police cars turned on their lights to make the traffic stop, the driver allegedly did not stop and fled. Approximately three minutes later the Honda was fleeing westbound on Lincolnway and attempted to turn northbound onto Ironwood. The Honda then crashed into the right rear tire of a northbound white Ford F-150 that had the right of way. The Ford received minimal damage and was later able to drive away from the crash.

The driver of the Honda complained of pain and was transported to Memorial Hospital where he was admitted for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Troopers and officers from the Mishawaka Police Department located approximately 292 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, 30 grams of suspected heroin, 31 grams of suspected marijuana and schedule 4 prescription drugs in the Honda.
