A Fulton County man is in jail after barricading himself in a home with another relative.

Police were called to the home in the 9400 block of West 525 North in rural Rochester just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday on reports of a man threatening to harm himself and his neighbors.

When police arrived, they found Jacob Howard, 32, barricaded inside the home with another relative.

Indiana State Police hostage negotiators tried to get Howard to exit the home, but he refused.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., police entered the home and were able to arrest Howard without incident. They also found a shotgun and ammunition inside the residence, and report Howard was wearing a homemade bullet-proof vest.

Howard is booked at the Fulton County Jail facing charges of Intimidation, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Unlawful Use of Body Armor.
