St. Joseph County considering voting centers

St. Joseph County is considering making the move to voting centers.

If the change happens, it’s expected to happen in time for the Primary Election next May. Elkhart County has used voting centers for five years and are touting them as a success that has led to higher turnout.

The centers make it more convenient for people to vote without having to fit their time with the ballot into a specific window of time at a place that could be far from where they work.

County Commissioner Andy Kostielney says he supports the idea, and if the county moves forward the next step would be to file a voting center plan with the state’s Election Division.
