South Bend has a new team to cheer on to victory.
Tuesday, South Bend was revealed as the home of the newest club in the United Soccer League’s pre-professional “League Two.”
The South Bend Lions Football Club is an expansion franchise that expects to compete next year, and have already begun holding tryouts for an under-18 program for local youth players.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg says the city looks forward to welcoming and cheering on the team.
The Lions have not announced where they’ll play their home games yet, but hope to make a choice from a few options in the next month or so.
