A 66-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after being struck by gunfire while watching TV in her home.

It happened just after 11 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, in the 900 block of Pavone in Benton Harbor.

The woman was lying in bed when a bullet entered the home and struck her. She was taken to Spectrum Health Lakeland and was last listed in critical condition.

Benton Harbor police found evidence in Broadway Park indicating where the shooting may have taken place. Investigators say it does not appear that the victim was the intended target of the shooting.

Several individuals were observed running from the area. Investigators are reviewing the local exterior residential security cameras in hopes of identifying as many people as possible.
