Thanksgiving marks 150 years since the first college football game, and the National Football Foundation says Notre Dame was a part of the 50th celebration 100 years ago.

On November 27, 1919 the Fighting Irish took on Morningside on a snowy, below-freezing Thanksgiving in Sioux City, Iowa.

Hall of Fame coach Knute Rockne led Notre Dame to a 14-6 victory on their way to a perfect season, including touchdowns from Joe Brandy and George “the Gipper” Gipp.

The Irish were named co-national champions with Harvard that year.
