Medical Device Tax Return is Looming

Hospital Machine

The Medical Device Tax is coming back unless lawmakers act fast. The tax goes back into effect January 1st and some lawmakers believe it could cost people jobs.

2nd District Representative Jackie Walorski says it could also stifle medical innovation. She’s written a bill to repeal the tax permanently. Medical devices can include X-ray or MRI’s, hospital beds, or most industrial-use machines used by hospitals or doctor’s offices.

Walorski argues that the tax will cost companies billions of dollars that they could be using to find ways to make medical treatment better for people, and keep Hoosier jobs.
