Police in Benton Harbor have identified a suspect in the shooting death of a 29-year-old woman and mother in Benton Harbor, but they won’t be placing him under arrest.

Quintina Jeffries was found, dead, from a bullet wound to the head in the 100 block of May Street on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Detectives found evidence and developed strong leads. They also identified a suspect, Samuel Brown.

Authorities were closing in, but then learned that Brown took his own life in St. Joseph.

While detectives still have a few details to wrap up, they say the shooting stemmed from a domestic assault incident.
