The St. Joseph County Coroner’s office has identified the man who was found dead near the St. Joseph River on Wednesday.
Deputy Coroner Sam Walsh says the man died of hypothermia. He’s been identified as 44 year-old Anthony D. Young.
Investigators believe Young was homeless, and the Deputy Coroner says he died of the cold despite wearing a few layers of clothing, three or four blankets, and a tarp to keep warm.
He was found unresponsive on a path near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and the St. Joseph River, between LaSalle and Colfax Avenues.
