Two people seriously injured in crash between vehicle & farm tractor in St. Joseph County

Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash involving a vehicle and a large farm tractor.

The collision happened around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, at New Road and Elm Road, according to the St. Joseph County Police Department.

The passenger vehicle struck the front wheels of the combine-tractor, knocking them off of the tractor.

Emergency crews arrived on scene to find a passenger from the vehicle not breathing. The passenger was revived after receiving C.P.R. and then taken by ambulance.

The driver was cut out of the vehicle and then was flown by medi-flight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

The driver of the tractor had no complaints of pain and appeared to suffer no injuries.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team is conducting an investigation.
