BBB: Stop scammers by writing out “2020” in full on checks

As many people are still struggling to write down the correct year on checks or other documents, the Better Business Bureau of Northern Indiana says people need to be careful how to write it down.

Rick Walz of the Better Business Bureau says it’s better to write out 2020 in full, as opposed to just the last two numbers.

Doing that could prevent a scammer from convincing a bank that you owe them an old debt.

It could also prevent an uncashed check you forgot to shred active again next year.
