A local police officer is being hailed after possibly savings a dogs life and it was all captured on video via a doorbell camera, and released by the FOP.

South Bend Patrolman James Wolff was called to the scene of a burning home and rushed to the front door. While opening the screen door he can be heard yelling to see if anyone is inside, but even with no response he decides to kick the door in, just in case. Unbeknownst to the officer Tonks the dog was standing on the other side, in a smoke filled room, trying to find a way out. In the video Tonks can be seen running from the home.

It was confirmed that nobody else was inside and police say Tonks was unharmed.
