Work planned for hospital complex in Michigan City

A hospital in Michigan City will soon undergo a huge renovation.

A new hospital opened in January, leaving only an Express Care in the former Emergency Room of the Franciscan Homer Street Campus.

WSBT reports that the Franciscan Alliance has now committed $20 million to making the site more useful, and tearing parts of it down.

The patient tower built in 2001 will be renovated to provide elderly care on the first floor, while the second floor will focus on Behavioral Medicine.

No time frame has been set for the work.
