The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi has made a contribution of 860 thousand dollars to several non-profit groups in South Bend.

At a ceremony Wednesday morning at Four Winds South Bend, the tribe presented checks to Mayor Mueller and representatives from local groups. It’s an annual contribution, part of a voluntary agreement between the Pokagon Band and South Bend.

The funds will benefit the city, the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County, the YWCA of North Central Indiana, the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, the South Bend Community School Corporation, and others. Funds will also go towards the renovation of Howard Park.
