A man was killed in a crash in Middlebury.

The collision happened around 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 8, on eastbound County Road 8.

Investigators say Robert Heign, 58, lost control of the vehicle he was driving and struck a tree.

He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital where he later died.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating factors that led to the collision.
