Notre Dame temporarily switches to online classes in response to coronavirus threat

The University of Notre Dame says they have been closely monitoring the spread of the coronavirus, and announced Wednesday that they are suspending all in-person classes on campus.

This goes into effect on Monday, March 23 and will be the case through at least Monday, April 13. All in person and online classes will also be cancelled for next week.

There are no known cases of coronavirus on the Notre Dame campus.

In a letter to the University community Father Jenkins said he has continued to monitor the quickly evolving situation, and decided this move was one of the best steps the school can take to reduce the likelihood of transmitting the virus.

The university president also suspended all study-abroad programs and is bringing students and U.S.-based faculty and staff home as safely and as soon as possible.
