Two people that were injured in a crash that involved Elkhart Police are now filing a lawsuit against the city and the department. Police were chasing 25 year old Dillon Bicknell on Apr 23rd 2019, when he lost control of his vehicle and hit another car head on. Inside that vehicle was Brittany Wilson and her infant daughter.
Wilson says she suffered numerous broken bones, punctured organs, had to have her spleen removed, and had to be placed in a medically induced coma. She says her 18 month old daughter suffered fractured vertebrae and was in a neck brace for six weeks. The lawsuit claims negligence against the City of Elkhart and several officers for their role and also targets specific policies that allowed the chase to happen.
A man that was in another car that was hit is also named as a plaintiff; he too was injured in the crash. The Elkhart Truth’s full can be found here.
