Elkhart man bonded out after threatening to kill pregnant woman

An Elkhart man is accused of threatening to kill a woman after taking her phone so she couldn’t call for help.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Oakdale Street, last week, where the victim alleged that Brian Hibshman Jr., 30, had confined her to a bedroom, battered her and threatened to shoot her.

The woman said it happened when they got into an fight about him allegedly being intoxicated.

The Elkhart Truth reports officers found him hiding in a vehicle near Hazel Street and Hively Avenue.

Hibshman Jr. faces charges including criminal confinement resulting in injury and domestic battery to a pregnant woman and unauthorized entry of a vehicle. He’s bonded out of jail and is scheduled for court late next month.
