Still 200+ I&M customers without electricty after weekend storms

The storms and strong winds in the South Bend area on Saturday, May 23,Thousands left without power after severe thunderstorms blow through Michiana resulted in nearly 11,000 Indiana Michigan Power customers losing electricity at the height of the outages.

Most of the outages were in the southern and western portions of the South Bend area.

As of 7 a.m. on Monday, May 25, more than 3,000 customers remained without power.  By 5 a.m. on Tuesday, the number of customers still waiting for the power to be restored was just over 200.

I&M crews were assembled from within the South Bend district and from other areas I&M serves to assist in the restoration and repair of equipment damaged due to trees and high winds.
