Christiana Creek Auctions off possessions as uncertain future looms

It was a sad day last week for a lot of Elkhart golfers, as possessions of the Christiana Creek Golf Course were auctioned off to offset the cost of being forced to shut down. The future of the course is still up in the air.

Christiana Creek sustained major damage via a sewage leak that owner Brent Stettler says happened during a traffic light installation next to the property. He is currently engaged in a lawsuit against the city of Elkhart, INDOT, and the contracting company that did the work. According to his attorney the entire restaurant needs to be gutted and it could cost upwards of $3 million.

The Elkhart Truth also says Stettler is engaged in a lawsuit with the insurance company over his coverage. The club has been in operation for more than 100 years.
