Dowagiac man sentenced after repeated incidents of domestic violence

A Dowagiac man has been sentenced in connection with three domestic violence cases involving the same woman.

The first incident involving Mark Allen Gourley, 55, happened in April 2019 when prosecutors say he ripped hair from his girlfriend’s scalp and slammed her against a toilet seat and a wall, according to the Niles Daily Star.

Then, in two separate incidents this past spring, he threw her to the ground, hit her in the face and threatened to kill her and slammed her head into a dining room table and choked her.

Gourley pleaded guilty to three counts of domestic violence and was sentenced to two terms of 29-months-to-five-years and a term of 23-months-to-five-years.
