Crews battle fire at Prosper South Bend apartments

Crews worked to put out a fire at a South Bend apartment complex Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported at Prosper South Bend apartments around 5:30 Tuesday, and the cause was unclear when units arrived to fight the fire.

E. Jefferson Boulevard was closed for a time between Ironwood and Logan streets. The fire was in the 300 block of E. Rue Flambeau Blvd.

Prosper South Bend was formerly known as Park Jefferson Apartments.

Responders found a fire in a second floor apartment, with flames visible through the 2nd story windows. Crews went inside and made an attack on the fire, and quickly put out the main blaze in the building.

There are no known injuries at the time of this release. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
