The I.U. School of Medicine in Indianapolis has started enrolling volunteers for a late-stage clinical study of a possible COVID-19 vaccine from AstraZeneca.

After the school was chosen in September as one of a dozen sites across the country to study the vaccine candidate, more than 3,000 Hoosiers volunteers.

About 1,500 will actually be selected. Dr. Cynthia Brown, who is leading the study, told Inside Indiana Business, the research team is looking to enroll Hoosiers that are representative of the demographics of Indianapolis, from race to age to pre-existing conditions.
