Opportunity to comment on plans to build new I&M lines, substation for South Bend

Indiana Michigan Power plans to make upgrades to the electric transmission for its customers in South Bend, Warren and German Townships.

I&M wants to construct around 3 miles of transmission line and build a new substation near U.S. 31 and Adams Road.

The utility says the improvements would ensure customers in the area continue to receive high-quality electric service as well as reduce outage duration times.

Due to the pandemic, I&M will host a virtual open house. Landowners and community members can learn more about the project and share input until Monday, December 28 through this link: IndianaMichiganPower.com/NorthernStJoseph.

Company officials expect construction to begin in late 2021 and conclude in Spring 2022.
