More than 70 percent of Goshen’s roads are in poor condition, according to a Goshen Board of Works pavement management plan.

That’s a report on roadway conditions that is one of the requirements of the Community Crossings matching grant program. Streets are rated on a 1-10 scale based on the types and number of cracks they have, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

Anything rated 4 or below is considered to be in poor condition and in need of improvement.

Roads were inspected in March. More than 100 miles of road were given zero-to-four ratings, out of the total city mileage of 145, The Elkhart Truth reported.

The report states it would cost the city more than $52 million to make all the improvements needed.

Geez I wonder where all the money went to fix the roads. Ridiculous. I’m pretty sure COVID caused this right?
