A federal judge in Michigan has refused to block the state’s ban on indoor dining during the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

Restaurants around the state are concerned that a lack of customers able to use their dining rooms will cause many places to close their doors. Many are also worried that Governor Whitmer’s administration might extend the state order.

Judge Paul Maloney, while turning down a request for an injunction, said that a “plausible explanation” exists for the state order — people can’t eat or drink without removing their masks, which could in turn spread the virus.
