An Elkhart woman and a 15-year-old runaway from Kosciusko County have been arrested after a police pursuit that went from Indiana to Michigan and back to Indiana. The chase started after an alleged theft at a Meijer store.

The suspect traveled from US 20 to I-94, crossing the border until M-239, then headed back into Indiana on State Road 39, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Officers tried using deflation devices, but the driver dodged them, swerving toward a deputy, ABC 57 reported.

After a second attempt, the cars’ tires flattered.

Shannon Burton, 36, of Elkhart was placed in the LaPorte County Jail on a slew of drug and resisting charges. The teen faces similar counts in the juvenile justice system.
