Plans are moving forward for a utility pole plant in Bristol.

The Elkhart Truth reports that the Elkhart County Board of Commissioners approved a rezoning request on Monday for the site of Valmont Industries in southwest Bristol.

The property is on County Road 23, south of Earthway Drive, and has been rezoned from agricultural to industrial.

The company will invest more than $29 million into a facility that will make spun concrete utility poles and employ 94 people. It hopes to begin production in the fall.
