Indiana House to consider a change to current School Bus stop arm legislation

A bill seeking to increase penalties for drivers who ignore school bus stop arms has been approved by the State Senate, and sent to the House.

The first offense would be a Class B misdemeanor, resulting in a 90-day license suspension and a $1000 fine. Subsequent violations would be a Class A misdemeanor that would go up to $10,000. A second violation could result in loss of license for a year.

It’s not known when the House will discuss the bill.
