Sports betting numbers in Indiana were off in February

Indiana sports betting was down below $275 million in February, breaking a five-month growth streak.

Play Indiana expects those numbers to turn around, though, as the once-in-a-lifetime NCAA Tournament should be a boon for the state. Indiana will play host to the entire men’s tournament this year.

Part of the February drop is blamed on a disappointing number of bets for the Super Bowl. February was also the first full month of online sports betting in Michigan.

In February, online betting in Indiana generated $241 million, 88.4% of the state’s overall handle, which was up from 85.1% in January.
