Michigan teen dies two weeks after collision in high school baseball game

A Michigan teen has died after suffering injuries during a high school baseball game last month.

Cooper Gardner, a junior at Bath High School, had spent nearly two weeks receiving medical care after he suffered a traumatic brain injury during a head-on collision at second base in a junior-varsity game between Bath and Portland St. Patrick on April 21.

Gardner was unconscious for 40-minutes after the hit and was immediately rushed to the local hospital, according to the GoFundMe set up for his family.

He died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday.

The GoFundMe account was originally set up to help pay for medical expenses and is now asking for additional donations to help the family pay for funeral expenses.
