Elkhart County opening up budget for more road improvements

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

After cuts during the pandemic, Elkhart County is starting to catch up in its paving projects. County Commissioners last year decided to cut several road paving projects, amid fears that funding would take a significant hit for the 2021 budget year.

On Monday the Boar of Commissioners approved several projects. According to the Elkhart Truth that includes a $1.3 Million agreement for improvements to Cr. 4 in the form of road widening between Cr. 15 and Cr. 17, along with new curb and gutter installation to help commercial traffic. They also entered an agreement with Rieth-Riley to fix wear and tear on about 20 miles of roads.

There are still other projects out for bid and decisions could come soon. You can read the full story here with our partners in news at The Elkhart Truth.
