Michigan City firefighters pull man from Lake Michigan

Firefighters in Michigan City pulled a man out of Lake Michigan Sunday afternoon. Police say the man was likely underwater as long as 30 minutes.

It happened at Washington Park, and WSBT reports that the firefighters were first on the scene because they were stationed along the beach as part of the city’s new safety team.

Michigan City formed the team this year after they were unable to hire enough qualified lifeguards.
