Ball State University student, 22, shot and killed near campus

A man was shot and killed near the Ball State campus early Saturday morning.

Muncie police were called to 1300 West Abbott Street at around 2:10 a.m.

Police say they got a report of a “possible fight and shots fired” at that address. The victim — a 22-year-old man — was shot in the neck, and died at the scene by 2:25 a.m.

Police are still trying to figure out what led up to his death.
