Elkhart to hold caucus for Goshen Clerk-Treasurer

The Elkhart County Democratic Party will be holding a caucus to name a replacement for Goshen’s Clerk-Treasurer.

This after Adam Sharf resigned his term, effective December 31, 2023.

The caucus, that is open to the public, is scheduled for July 8 inside the Goshen Public Library at 6:00.

The meeting is expected to last an hour and will be governed by Indiana statue and Indiana Democratic Party rules.

According to ABC-57 News, only precinct committee chairs represented by Goshen will be allowed to vote who have been elected or appointed within 30 days of the vacancy.

If you are interested in being considered as a candidate, you will need to complete two documents at the Elkhart County Clerk’s office:

  1. CEB-5 Declaration of Candidacy for vacant Local Office to be Filled by a Political Party Caucus
  2. CAN-12 Statement of Economic Interest for Local and School Board Offices

The deadline to apply is July 5 at 6:00 p.m.
