Elkhart woman, 42, injured in hit-and-run crash at County Road 20 and Charlie Drive

A 42-year-old Elkhart woman suffered neck pain and cuts to her face in an apparent hit-and-run crash in Elkhart County.

The collision happened around 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, at the intersection of County Road 20 and Charlie Drive when the driver of a vehicle rear-ended the Elkhart woman’s car. The force of the crash then sent her vehicle into the path of an oncoming SUV driven by a 57-year-old Centreville Michigan woman.

The Michigan woman was not hurt.

The driver who police say caused the rear-end crash fled from the scene moments after the crash.

No enforcement action has been taken at this time, according to Elkhart County Sheriff’s investigators. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
