A 28-year-old man was cited for leaving the scene of an injury accident in Elkhart County.

The crash happened just after 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, on County Road 12 west of County Road 3 when the driver of a 2000 Toyota Avalon rear-ended a freight truck, according to Elkhart County Sheriff’s investigators.

The driver of the Toyota then ran from the scene into some woods.

Deputies were able to find the driver and brought him back to the scene.

They say he was not able to stop due to brake failure.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries, but refused medical attention, deputies said.

The driver of the Toyota was cited for leaving the scene of the accident with bodily injuries, following too closely and operating a motor vehicle financial responsibility.
