A new study finds Indiana has the No. 30 worst property crime rate in the country including burglary, larceny, vehicle theft, and arson.

The state’s current property crime rate is 7% higher than the national average at 19.7 crimes per 1,000 people.  Clarksville, Indiana, has the highest rate, while Hagerstown, Indiana, has the lowest.

Nationally, one-in-five households experienced property crime last year and victims lost $13 billion in 2019.

SafeHome.org today released a study on The State of Property Crimes in Indiana using the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data.

Additional Key Findings in Indiana:

• Residents have a 1.97% chance of being victims in the next year.
• The five worst cities are Clarksville, Edinburgh, Seymour, South Bend, Evansville.
• The five best cities are Hagerstown, Zionsville, Loogootee, Porter, Ligonier.
• The property crime rate decreased by 36% since 2010.
