FEMA is reaching out to touch everyone on Wednesday.

Millions of people who opted in to receive emergency messages on their cell phones will receive a test message today, starting at 2:20 p.m.

It’s a coordinated test with the FCC for the Wireless Emergency Alert system. The EAS will also send a portion of the test to radios and televisions.

The alert today is to ensure that the alert system is working properly in the event of a national emergency. In the event of severe weather, the test will be postponed until August 25.
