Riverside Terrace Apartment residents claim Housing Authority falling short on maintenance

Some residents of the Riverside Terrace Apartments say the Elkhart Housing Authority is failing to maintain the property.

This is causing a number of the elderly residents there to take some matters of maintenance into their own hands.

The Elkhart Truth reports that one 71 year-old says she and her fellow residents are wiping down elevators, cleaning the cafeteria windows, and more. They pleaded their case to the City Council this week, hoping the council can get the attention of the Housing Authority.

A member of the Housing Authority administration attended the City Council meeting and said the concerns would be addressed.
