Elkhart man charged in string of armed robberies

An Elkhart man has been charged in a string of cash register robberies that took place last summer and fall.

Police believe Tristain Riley, 20, is responsible for robbing several gas stations, fast food restaurants and a dollar store during the past year while armed with either a knife or a gun, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

Detectives used video surveillance, clues from a bicycle that he rode before one of the alleged heists as well as witness descriptions of his facial tattoo.

The Elkhart Truth reports police also took DNA from a 100 dollar bill left behind during one of the crimes to identify Riley as the crook.
