High school football changes due to COVID-19 concerns

Some high schools around Michiana continue to struggle on the football field against a tiny opponent: the coronavirus.

Due to COVID-19 concerns the game scheduled for this weekend between Elkhart High School and South Bend Washington has been cancelled.

On Tuesday, Sep. 7, was announced that the Lions will, instead, face Byron-Center High School from Michigan at Elkhart’s Rice Field at 7 p.m.

That school, which is near Grand Rapids, had a forfeited a game last week, and another cancellation this week.

Elkhart opens their NIC East-West Schedule next Friday at Penn.
