The aftermath of Hurricane Ida

(Tommie Lee/MNC)

It turns out damage to power poles from Hurricane Ida across Louisiana and Mississippi was greater than that caused by Katrina, Ike, Delta and Zeta combined.

Nearly 31,000 poles, 36,000 spans of wire and 6,000 transformers in two states were damaged in the storm.

Entergy Energy says the number of poles damaged or destroyed is more than the number for those four hurricanes combined.

More than 415,000 customers were still without power in Louisiana as of Tuesday morning.

Around 300 Indiana Michigan power crews remain on the job helping restore the juice.
