South Bend Fire Department receives nationwide accolades

High accolades for the South Bend Fire Department. Insurance Service Office awarded the station a nationwide Class 1 Public Protection Classification rating for their fire fighting efforts.

The Class 1 rating is the highest of 10 and represents superior property fire protection.

The rating is based on data for fire protection, water access, and emergency communication provided by South Bend Fire, South Bend Municipal Utilities, and the St. Joseph County Public Safety Communications Consortium.
