Driving longer on the same tag will become a thing next year in Michigan.

Wednesday, Governor Whitmer signed a bill into law that allows Michiganders to register their vehicles for two years at a time rather than one.

The extended registration period will add to the convenience for motorists, and the state will collect the same revenue from registration fees. In previous years the registration has ended on the birthday of the owner.

Another bill signed into law adjusts the recreation passport fee for two year registration. Both go into effect next October.
