An adjustment has been made to the September unemployment rates in Michigan and Indiana.

On Friday the federal government adjusted Indiana’s rate from 4% to 3.5%. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics also revised the state’s labor force participation rate down a tenth of a percentage point to 63.9 percent.

Michigan’s unemployment rate had the biggest jump in the region, from 4.6% to 6.3%.

The Bureau says the change was made after discovery of an immediate change for the entire East North Central Region, as statistical models were greatly impacted by COVID numbers.

The government is making changes to their data gathering process.
